Niall Fenton, Chair of IIBN Ireland and Director of European Operations at Lotus Capital
Niall Fenton is the Director of European Operations at Lotus Capital, bringing over 25 years of experience in capital markets, business development and general management. He is responsible for Lotus’ operations in Ireland and the UK as well as expansion throughout Europe.Prior to joining Lotus, Niall was the founder and managing director at Private Equity Investments (P.E.I.), based in Dublin. P.E.I. structured a broad range of venture capital investments and syndicated commercial and residential real estate projects in Europe and the US.
Before P.E.I., Niall was a corporate finance and management consultant with Chapman Flood Mazars, where he handled a range of management buy-outs, venture capital investments and corporate restructurings.
Niall began his career in manufacturing, having been Sales and Marketing Manager of William Cox Ireland Ltd. and Interim General Manager at Industrial Automation Systems Ltd. Currently, Niall is the Chairman of the Irish International Business Network (Dublin), sits on the Board of Directors of Attention To Detail Ltd. (a bespoke yacht company) and is an Advisor to Next-Gen Ventures, a Los Angeles-based VC fund.
Niall received his Bachelor of Commerce degree and MBA from University College Dublin and has been a guest lecturer for UCD. He lives in Dublin with his wife Ena and has interests in literature, cinema and wine-collecting, where he is the Honourary Cellarer of the Compagnons de Bordeaux.
Pat Brazel, CEO, Zignals
Pat was Chair of IIBN Dublin for two years between 2011 and 2013.
Pat Brazel has over 25 years of experience working in the international financial software industry. He is chairman of PolarLake Ltd., a leading Irish integration technology company and is a senior partner in GoldTier Technologies LLC. He is CEO of Digital Minds Ltd. a Microsoft-participant company building Web 2.0 company focused on investment research solutions for stock market investors. He is a director of Brady PLC the commodity trading systems company and of First Derivatives PLC a financial services consulting and software company, both of which are quoted on AIM in London. He was CEO of Eontec, the market leader in multi-channel retail banking solutions prior to its acquisition by Siebel Systems He was a founder and chairman of Sentry Financial Systems, the pre-eminent provider of collateral management software, prior to its acquisition by Algorithmics Inc. of Canada.
Following an early career jobs in banking and commodity broking, he led SunGard Capital Markets, the dominant software supplier in the trading and risk management systems market for many years. He holds a Masters in Management Science from Trinity College, Dublin. He is a board member of the Dublin City University Educational Trust and of INVENT – DCU’ s innovation and commercialisation hub.
Fionuala Pender, Executive Director, IIBN
Prior to joining IIBN in September 2007, Fionuala was the Executive Director of the Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE UK), a global not for profit networking organisation which spans 45 cities in 11 countries. Fionuala headed up two TiE offices in London and Manchester and worked closely with the Board to help drive strategy. During her 4 years with TiE, Fionuala delivered a technology focused tour in India which showcased over 100 technology start up companies in New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai. In the UK, Fionuala saw the group triple in membership and corporate sponsorship was gained from 4 key industry sectors. Fionuala also helped to build and deliver a mentoring programme to the growing membership who required business guidance and advice.
Fionuala has also worked for Lehman Brothers Investment Bank within its IBD Technology division. Fionuala is a graduate from the London School of Economics, and her first job after graduating was for a London based charity which focused on alleviating poverty in the UK working closely with the European Union.
Sinead Crowley, Executive Director, IIBN
Sinead moved to the UK four years ago and now shares the Executive Director role at IIBN with Fionuala Pender.
Prior to moving Sinead worked as a Projects Manager with the South West Regional Authority in Ireland for almost 15 years on EU and Nationally funded programmes & projects related to regional and socio-economic development. Areas of expertise include strategic planning, socio-economic development, cross sector partnership development, innovation and knowledge based economy, collaborative environments, broadband and the information society, edemocracy, egovernment and distance learning at regional, national and pan-EU levels.
Sinead is a Joint Honours Arts Graduate of UCC and Post Graduate Diploma in Law from College of Commerce Rathmines.
When not working at IIBN Sinead helps with fundraising, events and strategic planning at UK registered Irish Charity icap.
Eugene Forde, Principal, Indigenous Enterprise Development, Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation
Former Economic Counsellor to the Embassy of Ireland in London (2008 – 2013) Eugene was also Co-Chair of IIBN and an active Board Member during his time in London. Full bio details to follow.

Caitlin O’Connor, Managing Director, Accelerating Performance

As a strategic, results oriented business leader and entrepreneur, Caitlin has proven success in exceeding standards and expectations.Caitlín is adamant about a focus on the customer – sets strategic direction and supports teams to deliver with success. One of the core strengths she brings to the table is being commercially astute focusing on ROI while delivering on strategic and tactical marketing. Caitlín has always been a results orientated marketing professional. Paul McSharry, Managing Director, FTI Consulting, Dublin
Paul McSharry is a Managing Director at FTI Consulting’s, Strategic Communications Division. FTI Consulting is a business advisory firm designed to address the interrelated challenges that can affect an organisation’s enterprise value. FTI offers highly specialised expertise in the areas of compliance, risk, reputation, liability, performance, finance and information. Paul manages FTI’s strategic communications business in Ireland and has overseen its growth over the last 8 years. Paul mainly works in the areas of corporate PR, issues management and public affairs. He has worked on many high profile issues and campaigns in Ireland, including two award winning campaigns in 1996 and 2003. Paul has over twenty years experience in the Irish communications industry.
During this time he has worked with major Irish and international clients including Vodafone, AIB Capital Markets, The Health Insurance Authority, Shell and Coca Cola. He was formerly a Director of Fleishman-Hillard’s Irish business and a senior consultant with Murray Consultants in Dublin. Paul has an MA in Economics from University College Dublin.
Susan Hayes, Managing Director of Hayes Culleton and author of “The Savvy Woman’s Guide to Financial Freedom”
Susan Hayes is Managing Director of Hayes Culleton and co-author of “Positive Economics”, a Leaving Certificate Economics textbook and published “The Savvy Woman’s Guide to Financial Freedom” with Penguin Ireland in January 2013. Hayes Culleton Ltd is an international financial training company that specializes in eLearning development and delivery. Susan introduced the company to the international markets in 2011 and was nominated for the Enterprise Europe Network Rising Star Awards last year. In 2008, she wrote a digitised module called “Introducing Wall Street to the Classroom” to make the stock market approachable and accessible for second level students.
Susan regularly contributes to the national and international media including The Sunday Times (Malta), RTE, Newstalk and Today FM (Ireland), as “The Positive Economist” on matters relating to economics, the stock market and entrepreneurship.
Pat Carroll, Founder, Touch Communications
With over 25 years experience in traditional sales and marketing, Pat’s business interests evolved, in 2010, into the area of digital marketing. In the roles of Community and Business Development Manager, with Irish social network, ’RendezVous353’, he grew the online membership to over 10,000, in its first year. During this time, he orchestrated the event management of the network’s official launches in New York & London. Working ‘on the ground’ with Irish networks, was key to this, though most of the growth took place online. This was achieved using the main social networks; Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as well as employing other digital marketing tools, such as newsletters and blogs.

Shaun O’Shea, Partner, Beauchamps Solicitors
A solicitor with over 20 years corporate and business law experience, Shaun is a partner and head of the Corporate and Commercial unit at Beauchamps Solicitors. From 2008 to 2011 he served as the firm’s Managing Partner.
Shaun’s practice areas include corporate finance, corporate restructuring, and foreign direct investment. He has represented clients in buying, selling and financing businesses and has experience across a wide spectrum of sectors including life sciences, technology, retail, healthcare and hotel and leisure. In addition to acting for international clients, Shaun works closely with a number of owner managed businesses advising them in all their legal requirements.

Richie Smith, Business Development Director for Hays Recruitment Ireland

Richie has worked in a number of senior positions in financial services in Dublin for over 30 years, including 16 years with Bank of Ireland and 13 years with Experian Ireland. He has a broad range of experience in P&L management, sales, relationship management, credit, collections and people management. He joined Hays in 2011 to head up their Business Development activities. A passionate and dedicated networker he is very actively involved in a number of trade bodies, industry groups and chambers of commerce on behalf of Hays.
He has been an ardent supporter of IIBN since joining Hays and is looking forward to making a tangible contribution to the Board in the months and years ahead.
