‘How I Became a Celebrity Chef’ by Richard Corrigan

On Tuesday 26th May, Richard Corrigan addressed over 150 IIBN Members at the recently relaunched Irish Club on Tudor Street in the City of London.
Conor Foley, IIBN Chairman and Jonathan Grey, IIBN Board Member welcomed everyone present and invited Richard to speak. Richard spoke candidly about his career to date, from his early days in London and Holland to the recent launch of his Michelin starred restaurant in Mayfair, Corrigan’s, in November 2008.
After leaving Ireland to pursue his dream of becoming a chef, Richard spent four years cooking in the Netherlands before progressing to become head chef of Mulligan’s in Mayfair. His first Michelin star was awarded at Stephen Bull?s Fulham Road restaurant in 1994, prior to launching the acclaimed Michelin-starred Lindsay House in Soho in 1997. Following his success at reviving the famous Bentley’s Seafood Bar Grill in London, Richard recently opened an Irish Bentley’s based in Dublin to equal praise.
In recent years Richard has worked at a number of prestigious events, including preparing lunch at 10 Downing Street for Tony Blair and the King Queen of Jordan, as well as being crowned winner of the Great British menu no less than three times Brought up on a farm in County Meath, Ireland, Richard Corrigan is now one of the most celebrated celebrity chefs in London and Dublin.
In addition to his restaurants which include the likes of Bentley’s Seafood Bar and Grill and Corrigan’s Mayfair, Richard also hosts the Irish primetime television series in Ireland, Corrigan Knows Food.
Richard spoke passionately about the importance of attracting the right shareholders and making sure they are involved in the business and looked after. For Richard, personal achievement, not the cash which inevitably goes with it, is what drives him.
