One of New York’s most sought after event venues, IIBN was generously hosted by The Gaffey Mellody Group. In the seasonal spirit, our event sponsor also had a random draw for two lucky winners, who now will have one more gift under the tree this year!

Appropriately, the winners were an IIBN London member and new New York member, highlighting the international strength of the network and the swathe of recent additions to the member base in New York. New members in 2011 out-number past members by a factor of 2:1 which bodes well for 2012, with additions to the board and an exciting event roster in the planning process.
A special message of thanks goes out to Executive Director Fionuala Pender, who has been vital to IIBN NY reaching this juncture, wishing her the best on the arrival of her new baby in the coming weeks. A special message of welcome goes out to Sinead Crowley who has hit the ground running, filling Fionuala’s shoes during her maternity leave of absence.

We would like to wish our members and advocates best wishes for the holiday season and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Jerry Kennelly is a key supporter of IIBN and spoke for IIBN London in early 2008. Jerry founded Stockbyte and Stockdisc, two companies based in Tralee that captured 10% of the global royalty-free stock photography market in ten years. In April 2006 both companies were sold to Getty Images (formerly GYI) for a consideration of $135 million.

Kennellys companies produced the highest pro-rata profit and profitability per employee in this worldwide industry. Kennelly, who started business as a freelance photojournalist in 1981, has been honoured by the Deloitte Fast 50 Awards and was selected as the Ernst amp; Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005.

Stockbyte is also a former winner of the DHL Exporter of the Year Award. Kennelly has spearheaded the Young Entrepreneur Programme since the concept was first mooted in 2006 and has collaborated with the poverty relief agency GOAL and the Press Photograpers Association of Ireland in documenting their work abroad and using those creative images to spread their messages through the media, exhibitions and calendars. He is now leading a multi-national team on a stealth mode business start-up due to launch a new global business in 2010
