Matthew Dunn is a partner with the Wall Street law firm of Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP. He represents clients in complex business litigation matters, including commercial tort and contract litigation, securities and financial industry disputes, employment and restrictive covenant litigation, and maritime and international transaction disputes. He also represents trust companies, financial institutions, and individuals, as fiduciaries and beneficiaries in trusts and estates disputes, as well as tax-exempt organizations in connection with regulatory issues. Matt advises clients on matters relating to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), cybersecurity and data privacy (including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)), and electronic discovery. He also advises early-stage and foreign companies in connection with business formation and operations in the United States. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, in FINRA and international arbitrations, and in connection with government agency investigations. Matt was previously a litigation associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. He has been named to the Irish Legal 100, and was recognized by Super Lawyers® as a “Rising Star.”
Matt received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark. He also served four years on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He traces his roots on his mother’s side to Co. Kerry and on his father’s side to Co. Cavan. He and his wife, Allison, have two children – James and Conor. He currently serves on the board of the New York chapter of the Irish International Business Network.
