We've been running networking events since 2007 in London, 2008 in Dublin, 2009 in New York and 2018 in Central and Eastern Europe.
And we've learnt a lot of things from these events.
We've met extroverts (not many!) who can work a room and make sure everyone knows who they are before the end of the night; and we've met introverts (plenty!) who come to an event and stay in their comfort zone by sticking to a small group with whom they feel most comfortable.
And now, for the first time, we are making connectivity even easier by facilitating interactions through this 'easy-to-use', password protected member website.
Meeting people at events is easy, particularly at IIBN events where everyone is there to facilitate connections. Meeting people online only requires a few clicks.
But 'meeting' someone doesn't achieve anything meaningful in itself.
In our experience, the best networkers go beyond the initial meeting and they 'follow-up' with a coffee meeting, lunch or a drink after work. That's how business gets done!
Having hundreds or thousands of 'contacts', either online or offline, is of no value unless you know your resepective needs and resources. I can't do anything for you if I don't know what you want and I can't ask you for anything if I don't know what you have. And you won't learn that from a business card!
So, by all means, collect the business cards at our Speaker events and browse the database of members here to see who are the type of people with whom you could do business, but, to truly become a master networker 'get out of the building' (a la Lean Startup) and start forming deeper relationships with a carefully selected group of members.
